## Authentication and access control

* **Important**\
  To get started quickly, review the introductory information on this page and then see [Getting Started with IAM](https://github.com/kevinslin/aws-reference-notes/blob/main/services/aws_robo_maker/auth_access_getting-started.md). You can optionally learn more about authentication and access control by viewing [What is Authentication?](https://github.com/kevinslin/aws-reference-notes/blob/main/services/aws_robo_maker/auth_access_what-is-authentication.md), [What is Access Control?](https://github.com/kevinslin/aws-reference-notes/blob/main/services/aws_robo_maker/auth_access_what-is-access-control.md), and [What are Policies?](https://github.com/kevinslin/aws-reference-notes/blob/main/services/aws_robo_maker/auth_access_what-are-policies.md).
* **Important**\
  All resources in an account are owned by the account, regardless of who created those resources. You must be granted access to create a resource. However, just because you created a resource does not mean that you automatically have full access to that resource. An administrator must explicitly grant permissions for each action that you want to perform. That administrator can also revoke your permissions at any time.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://awsnotes.dendron.so/robotics/aws-robomaker/common/security.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
